| 🔵 Concept | This project is currently in the conceptual and design phase. There is no code implementation yet. |
Overview
Trackr is designed to be a lightweight, efficient solution for businesses to manage employee attendance. The goal is to provide a seamless way for employees to record their working hours and for managers to monitor attendance patterns without complex hardware or expensive software.
Core Features
The proposed system focuses on simplicity and accuracy:
- Easy Clock-In/Out — Employees can quickly record the start and end of their shifts via a simple web interface or mobile app.
- Real-Time Dashboard — Managers can see who is currently on the clock and who has finished their shift for the day.
- Automatic Duration Calculation — The system automatically calculates the total hours worked per shift, accounting for breaks if configured.
- Attendance History — A clear log of past attendance records for both employees and administrators to review.
- Location Tagging (Optional) — Using GPS or IP-based verification to ensure employees are at the expected work location when clocking in.
Proposed Workflow
- Employee Login — Secure access using an identifier (email, employee ID, or mobile number).
- Toggle Status — A prominent "Clock In" button appears when the employee starts work. Once active, it changes to "Clock Out".
- Automatic Logging — Every action is timestamped and stored in a secure database.
- Reporting — At the end of the week or month, the system generates a summary report of total hours worked, late arrivals, and early departures.
Planned Scenarios
| User Type | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| Employee | Clicks "Clock In" at 08:00 AM | Status changes to "Active", timestamp 08:00 AM is recorded. |
| Employee | Clicks "Clock Out" at 05:00 PM | Status changes to "Inactive", total duration of 9 hours is calculated. |
| Manager | Views Team View | Sees a list of all active employees with their clock-in times. |
Trackr aims to eliminate the friction of traditional attendance systems, making time tracking a natural part of the workday.
